Back in Business...

WOW. Its been a while, I know....I KNOW. Lay off. I have been crazy busy lately, but now things have slowed down so I can dedicate more time to my blog.

School has been a little frustrating lately. I have this class where all we do is work in groups with real companies and do real PR work for them. It's actually a really good opportunity and I am enjoying it, but some peeps in my group are slacking. I mean, this is a big deal. This company is totally trusting us to come up with some good stuff they can use and when people just don't show up to meetings or class, it discredits our whole group and, I'll be honest, I don't want to look bad. I am the group manager so its basically all my responsibility to get our group working collectively and productively. I like being in charge, but at the same time, I also like having people I can depend on and with some of these peeps, I can't.

My best friend Eliza is getting married in about 2 weeks. Crazy. Me and my other friend Michelle, are planning her wedding shower. We decided to go with a theme. The theme incorporates two of Eliza's favorite things: Diet Coke and Chocolate. So I am making the invitations with Diet Coke colors: Red, silver and black. It sounds really dorky, but it's going to be cool. I went to the scrapbooking store to get some papers and such to make the invitations. Now, if you have never been a real scrapbooker or have never been inside a scrapbooking store, let me tell you....It's a trip. These stores are like creative meccas for those willing to take the hours and hours and hours to create elaborate scrapbooks for their loved ones. Walls and walls of every kind of paper imaginable. Any sticker you can think of is at this store.Beads, buttons, ribbons, stamps, pens, patches, decals.... It's quite overwhelming actually. I went in with a pretty simple, idea of what I wanted to make, but as soon as I started looking around, my imagine took over and I started to get inspired. My simple invitation idea turned into this huge intricate, detailed ivitation idea. In no time I had my hands full with cardstock, velum, ribbon, stickers and even bottle caps....yes, they sell bottle caps! Well, after surveying my goods, I decided that, although I was on a creative high, I didn't want to empty my bank account to make 10 wedding shower invitations. I bought some cool paper and a little ribbon and must say that they turned out pretty good. I must say that I admire those who have the imagination to do that real crazy scrapbooking, however,I look at some of this stuff and find the idea exhausting. My mom used to scrapbook a little. She did one for my older sister Jen and my brother Christian. I guess she got overwhelmed too and quit before she got to me.

Anyways, should be a fun party...

Bri, I have to say for someone who doesn't scrapbook you did a swell job at those invitations! Very Impressive.
