He Invented the Friggin' iPod...
I just found this blog. I don't know how I found it but I am glad I did. It's a fictional blog of Steve Jobs, you know, the CEO of Apple. I think it's funny. You might too...

Where do the weekends go?
This past weekend I up to Logan because that's where my my social life continues to reside...unfortunately, without me.
Friday I spent the day laying out by the infamous Oakridge pool with Michelle and Rachel. We had a good time just laying there, catching up with each other. Later that night I went see Man of La Mancha with my friend Brett. It was really good. Quite impressive for the Utah Festival Opera. Saturday we drove up to Bloolmington Lake which is about an hour and a half east of Logan. You have to hike a little to get the it, but it's worth the walk. There are perfect cliffs to jump off of so we did that for a while and then hit up the rope swing. It was so fun. The water was chilly (there are still some patches of snow on the cliffs) but it was hot outside so the water felt good. After Bloomington, we drove over to Bear Lake Pizza Co. and ordered the "Old Ephraim" which is this massive pizza named after one of the largest grizzly bears ever killed in the world.
Later that night I got talked into going up to Preston, Idaho to go to the Preston Rodeo and Carnival. Ok, if you know anything about Preston you can imagine what this little event was like. Lots of mullets and Wranglers. Not really my scene, but still, it was fun.
Sunday I went to church and then went to the Hamilton's/Cafe Sabor summer party. I know I don't work at Hamilton's anymore but it was so fun to hang out with all the people I used to see everyday. I miss that job a lot sometimes.
So yeah, that was my weekend. Really fun and I was sad to have to come back to Salt Lake last night. I can't believe summer is almost over. Where did it go!? It's going to suck when Fall semester starts again and everyone I know will be back in Logan at school. Lame. I need to make some knew friends I guess.

The Marrieds...

This is Eliza and Chuck. They are two of my best friends who happen to be married to each other. Their story is a good one.
We all lived on the same floor our freshman year in the dorms at Utah State. My apartment, Eliza's apartment and Chuck's apartment all got to be really good friends. We hung out all the time and had so much fun. Anyways, Chuck and Eliza were just good buddies but after Chuck left on his mission, Eliza's true feelings came out. She would never fully admit it at first, but Eliza totally wanted Chuck. They would write each other and send each other little packages and presents, but they were still just really good pen pals. Finally, Chuck came home and Eliza was totally freaking out over it. She was really exicted but nervous too. They hung out a few times and I remember Eliza coming home after and saying "I think that was a date..." It was really funny to watch them progress into a romantic relationship. They were so new to the whole dating thing and we gave Eliza such a hard time about it. They got married last March. It has been so fun to see their relationship grow into what it is now. They are awesome. They are always saying things to me like:
"Brianne, we need to find you someone awesome to date so when we go on vacations together, it's not awkward and boring..."
Right. They are hilarious. Good people and I love them both to death.

Well, Duh...

Ok, now all we have to do is wait for the rest of N'Sync to come out...
I bet it's Joey next...
I am at my lame office right now, NOT doing anything related to what I should be doing.
Hold on there's a lady at the door trying to get it...
Ok that lady was weird. She was asking me where Carrie (the candidate) was.
"Carrie is not in today. Can I leave her a message?"
She didn't want to leave a message. No, no, she just wanted to tell me her life story, beginning with her job at Wells Fargo at which she is miserable...
Huh.
Oh wait, she's back...this time with a friend
"Yeah hi, this guy is lost. He is trying to find this office building. Do you have a phone book?"
"No we don't actually. Maybe you should try calling 411 and getting directions.."
"Ok, well how about looking it up on the internet"
"Um, ok"
What, I am freaking MapQuest all of a sudden for poor fools who don't know where their lawyer's office is? Apparently....
p.s. that lady came back a again, this time to apologize for stopping by the second time and adding that we should keep the doors unlocked...
Right, like we are going to take the chance of letting ridiculous strangers pop in whenever they feel like chatting.
Not going to happen. Now get out.

The RDG.
That's the unofficial acronymn for Redding if you didn't know. Me and those I know usually use it as a noun, like " Yeah, I am visiting The RDG..."
Anyways....
Today was a good day. Although my Uncle Bob's funeral was today and it was very sad to go through, being together with my whole family was cool. It is so rare that I see my entire family: Parents, sisters, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc so when we get to all hang out, it's really quite fun. My family is rather small, I only have 3 cousins and 1 aunt from my Dad's side and although we are very different, we still find ourselves laughing histerically at the same stories. MY Grandpa's brothers and sister and their spouses all drove down from Idaho Falls and it was so awseome to see them with my Grandpa. We would all just sit and listen to them tell sotries from way back when. I love seeing my Grandpa with his brothers. He laughs so hard. Its's great and I am so glad they came all this way to be with him. They are the nicest people, I wish we could see them more.
Here is a picture of me and my counsin's little boys. Cara's son, Mason, is on the left. Staci's son, Cole, is on the right. They are the most beaufiful kids ever, Seriosuly, they are like little models. They don't look so happy here, but trust me, they are adorable.
Tomorrow I head back to SLC. I am bummed. I like being home, usually I get sick of it and am totally ready to get on out of here, but this was a really fun trip. I realized how much I miss my family when I am gone and how much fun I have with them. It's a shame I live so far away and can't visit more often. I think maybe I should look for a job in California. That'd be so cool to live closer to the fam.
The one crappy thing about this weekend though, is that it's been hot. I mean, really, really hot. I forgot how horrible it is in Redding during the summer. I think it was 113 today. Miserable. You can't do anything when it's this hot out. Nothing helps. Not even swimming, which we thought about, but it doesn't even sound fun when it's hotter than Hades outside.
I really hope it's not that hot in Salt Lake.

Going Home...
A couple days ago, my Uncle Bob passed away from a heart attack. It's really sad. He was my Dad's younger brother and had a really great family. I feel really bad for my aunt and my cousins. I can't imagine losing my father so I can't imagine what this must be like for them.
My parents are flying me home to attend the funeral. I leave tonight at 6:30. I am really happy to get to come home for a couple days, I just wish it was for different circumstances.
Last night I had dinner with a couple friends I used to work with at Hamilton's in Logan. We went to Market Street Grill, I had the ahi tuna. It was great. One of these friends took a job in San Diego a couple months ago so I hadn't seen him in a while. We laughed a lot and had a really good time. It made me miss Logan a lot. I think it's going to be hard for me when school starts for everyone again.
I watched the Project Runway premier the other night. I had never seen it before, but it really is so good. I was pissed they didn't kick Vincent off. His dress was ridiculous, and so was that silly hat he made that poor model wear. The judges totally should have bagged him. Big mistake Heidi, big, huge. However I really liked Angela's dress. It was totally unique, but still wearable. I also liked Robert's dress. His was adorable!!! Ok, I can't stand Jeffery. He's so dumb- way conceited. He pretty much thinks he is god's gift to fashion. I was so happy when the judges dissed his dress. It was way too much. Look at it yourself: Jeffery's Ugly Dress
I need to go pack now. Peace.

9 Pounds
I need to lose 9 pounds. I can't believe I thought that I'd come back from Europe 10 pounds lighter and with total muscle definition in my legs. What was I thinking.
Oh, I know what I was thinking...
"Yum. This gelato is so good..."
Right, well 9 pounds later, I feel gross and totally out of shape. Heather forced me to get on the scale last night after she insisted it was a faulty model. Turns out, it was set to kilos and not pounds. I refused to get on the stupid thing. I hate scales. I hate them. I never used to be concerned over my weight, like the actually number. I figured if I was ok with what I looked like and could still fit into my clothes, I must be doing ok. But as soon as Eliza gave me that scale (she will sometimes invite me over to pick out a "present" from her and Chuck's "wedding-gifts-we-don't-want-but-can't-return" closet. It's fun), it started. I got on it for the first time and about had a nervous breakdown. According to the scale, I weighed a little bit more that I was expecting to weigh.
Now please, I am not one of these weight obsessed people. I am not. But I don't like that number where it is right now and am determined to get it back down to where it belongs. Heather and I are losing together. Heather doesn't need to lose anything, but she says she wants to lose 5 pounds.
So, I need to lose 9 pounds. I went running today. THE SECOND DAY IN A ROW!! I can't remember the last time I did that. It's been months. But it felt good after. Hopefully, I can stick with it. Except here's a problem: I have to run with music and I can't because my stupid iPod earbuds don't stay in my ears!!! It's so annoying. Here I have a sweet iPod that I can't even listen to. Apple should make specialty headphones for runners. Ones that don't fall out. Maybe I have odd-shaped ears, but they just do not stay. I have to almost sit entirely still for them to not fall out. It's rather annoying. Maybe I should email Apple....hmm.

I Work Out Just to Wear the Clothes....

I really hate working out. I mean, I hate knowing that I really should get my butt outside or to the gym everyday so I can keep my calorie intake/calories burned ratio at a normal level. It's not fair. I mean, I guess I do feel pretty accomplished when I finish a run or something, but during, I want to die. It takes all that I have to not stop, sit down and eat a cupcake or something instead. However...I LOVE workout clothes. Love them. I wish my entire wardrobe consisted of running shorts, sports bras and dri-fit tee shirts. I think I like them so much because I feel like a total athlete when I wear stuff like that. Such a poser, I know, but still. I bought some new running shorts yestday and a new running shirt that totally "breathes." They are way cute and I feel so in-shape when I put them on, even though, TRUST ME...I am not.
Anyways, back the part about me wanting to die when I run....How do you runners do it? Is there some sort of psychological thing you do when you run? Do you listen to certain music? Tell me because I want to be able to like to run. I want to feel legit when I put on my Nike gear. What's the secret??
In other news...
Me and Heather played tennis last night. We totally battled the elements and played in a thunderstorm, risking our lives to claim victory. There was the seriously old lady playing next to us for a while, before the downpour. She had to be at least 90 years old. She was playing with her granddaughter (great-granddaughter???) and let me tell you, she was good, really really good. She was whacking the ball back and forth like it was nobody's business. Me and Heather had to keep ourselves from staring at her. We would look at each other and be like "Um, yeah, that grandma could totally WORK US." She was straight out of Wimbledon...but like Wimbledon 1925. It was really funny, but really embarassing too. Heather ended up kicking my butt. She usually does. But let me explain. Heather totally dated this like, pro-tennis player for a while so that's why she is so freaking good. He molded her into the player she is today. Props to her for taking advantage. That's what I should do....find a pro-tennis player to go out with so we can go on dates to the tennis courts. Oh wait, that's right, NO ONE WILL DATE ME!!!!!!
Alright. I am going to go get a cupcake. Peace out.

Back in Action.
Ok sorry. I have been really busy since I got back from Europe you know, going ATVing in Yellowstone, road trip to California, and playing tennis everyday, all day. It's been the life, for sure. Now I am living in Salt Lake City with one of my best friends, Heather (what up Ho!). I like it a lot. We live in a rad neighborhood in a sweet house and it's the perfect place for me right now. I got a little job working on a campaign for a candidate running for SLC District Attorney. It's a fun job and I think I am going to like it. So far so good.
It's really scary not being a student anymore. It's so cool that I have graduated and I feel very excited to be done, but at the same time it's terrifying. I have been going to school since I was 5 and haven't known anything else and now it's time to be an adult and pay the bills. I want so badly to venture off and do something exciting and new, but I can't say that I am all that ready to up and rearrange my life. It's a weird feeling. I keep telling my friends that I feel like I have been kicked out of the club-the care-free, college student, go to be at 3, sleep till 10 life. Being a college student is rad and I totally know what they meant by "it will be the best time in your life..." because, let's be honest, it was.
But I guess everyone has to do it sometime. My brother-in-law, Ryan, explained it to me this way (during one of his "what in the hell are you doing???" phonecalls) Life is just a continuous cycle of being uncomfortable and becoming comfortable. It really is true. Everytime you start something new, whether it be school or a job or whatever, you feel uncomfortable, out of place, inadequate. But over time, as you stick it out, you become accustomed to your new change and soon, it's not a change anymore-it's your life. I guess that's a good way to think about this little transition I am in. It's scary but that's life. You deal.
Anyways, enough about that. Here are some pictures from our trip. I will be putting more up everyday since I failed to do so while I was over there. Sorry about that again.

This is me and Michelle in front of the Parthenon in Athens.

On the 9-hour ferry from Athens, coming into Santorini.

Our pool in Santorni

Outside our room in Santorini. Seriously, we thought we were in the wrong hotel. Like, no way can this be where are are staying. So pretty!!!

Overlooking the caldera

Ok, these fish were caught about 15 minutes before we ate them...and they were delicious.

Perissa Beach-Santorini. Go there.

I wanted to post this because Jen, my sister in Sacramento, did it and said that I would be most likely to respond. She was right. I like these little quizes....
1. COMPLETE NAME Brianne Christine Olsen
2. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? I think I was named after my mom's brother, Brian. But you know, they had to modify it because I was a girl...
WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED? Not for a while, which is good. I think I cried about 2 months ago. I was trying to go to sleep one night and I had a lot of stuff on my mind: finals, graduating, figuring out what I am going to do with my life.
I was utterly exhausted and my roommates wouldn't shut up so that just set me off. I just lost it.
4. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING? NO. It's hideous. You should see my Europe journal. Sick. I don't know how I am going to read that in like 50 years.
