Swimming

I bought a legit lap swimsuit last night and hit the pool for a "work-out."

It didn't go well.

Listen, I'm not trying to get to Beijing or anything here, but I just want to be able to swim a few laps without looking like a drowning lurp.  I consider myself fairly coordinated, but I cannot for the life of me get my freestyle down.  I flail about, choking down chlorine water, all the while the lower half of my body is sinking to the bottom of the pool and I'm trying to stay on the surface.  It's not pretty.  Am I too old to take swim lessons?

This is Dara Torres, not me. I can tell you I look nothing like this when I swim.

On a not-so unrelated note: Michael Phelps is smokin' hot, right up until he starts talking and then, not so much.

Bri, its Suzanne.....this made me laugh because I took a swimming class just recently and the teacher was so crazy...I cannot swim freestyle whatsoever..the teacher was so into it he was asking me over and over why I was never in swim lessons. Not to mention the actual work out it self is so, so hard. Anyhow, I also have a pretty sweet speedo and have been trying to swim regularly. It is hard though, you are not alone! :)

I miss swimming. I think I'll take some inspiration from your attempt and start swimming laps when I get home.

Brianne, this is Chuck. I totally know what you mean about swimming. I started swimming last fall in an attempt to lose the pregnancy weight (which resulted in 15 more pounds), and I sucked at first. But I read some articles online, saw some videos on youtube, and I totally got good at it. I was able to swim from one side of the pool to the other on a single breath. I know; awesome, right? Do you have goggles? For some reason I didn't use goggles at first, and that really screws you up.
