Movie Marathon

I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Some were good,

Others were not,

Into the Wild was so, so good. Such a sad, but awesome story. I love Catherine Keener and she's great in this. Everyone is great in it. I couldn't decide if I felt sorry for Christopher, or annoyed. He was so bitter towards his parents, you couldn't help but feel bad for him and his inability to detach himself from their problems. But, towards the end, I really thought he was being incredibly selfish, like his entire journey wasn't so much of a quest for self-discovery as it was a quest to piss off his parents. Maybe it was both.

Ok, Indiana Jones is a movie I could have walked out of had I been there alone. My mom and I decided to see it early Friday night and I about died having to sit through all 5 hours of it. For those who may want to see it and haven't (I'd recommend saving your $10, or opting for *Speed Racer in IMAX, which shows the Twilight trailer) I won't get into any spoiler info here, but let's just say Steven Spielberg may have forgotten this was a sequel to the Indiana Jones franchise and not E.T 2: Phone Home. I'm just saying.

Other movies viewed this weekend:

Made of Honor - Predictable. But P. Dempsey is a dreamboat so worth it.

What Happens in Vegas: Diaz is looking old these days. Not going to lie though, I covet her arms. Best part of the movie is at the very end, during the credits : "YOU KNOW WHY." Lake Bell was the best part of this movie. Hilarious.

Waitress: It was ok. Not as good as I thought it would be, but decent. Elton is in it and he's amazing as Keri Russell's semi-abusive husband.

See, I told you it was a lot.

*I have not personally seen Speed Racer, however, I might have heard that the Twilight trailer was showing before it and I might have snuck into the IMAX Theater on my way out of What Happens in Vegas to see it.

The soundtrack for Into the Wild is really good - we listen to it a lot at Crumb Bros. I thought Waitress was going to be better, too. Did you not want pie when you were done watching it, though...?

Brianne, I also watched a lot of movies this week: Pride and Predjudice, Northanger Abbey, Mansfield Park, Persuasion and Sense and Sensibility. You might recognize these as all of Jane Austen's books, with the exception of Emma. I was lucky to watch these all from the "comfort" of my home. def. comfort: sitting in bed with pajamas covered in spit up. There is of course no sheet on the bed because my son peed all over it while I changed his diaper. He probably peed on these pajamas as well but no one will notice over the smell of the spit up. Anyway, I definitely recommend Sense and Sensibility. Edward is such a cutie!

Briannne, despite your warnings Chuck and I went to see Indiana Jones. We went with very low expectations and I have to say your critique was a little off the mark. Now I'm not saying it was good or anything, but did you see the first three? Do you remember the skin melting off those Nazi's when they looked at the arc? I have to say this Indie movie fell right in line with the others. Although I don't know what Steven was smoking when they filmed that Tarzan scene with Shia swinging through the jungle. Lame. One person. That's all it would have taken to say, "that's lame Steve."
